OMGGGGGGGG guys
19 July 2010 04:38 pmAs I posted on my sims LiveJournal but somehow forgot to post here, I have a new laptop with a BRAND-NEW, AMAZING graphics card. The card's an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650, which according to the sources I read is basically amazing.
And it totally is. If you read my legacies at all you'll know how bad my graphics are, but that isn't even the whole story. Let me tell you how the Sims played on my old laptop and its shitty ATI X1200 card. It was clunky. I got something like 10 fps, maybe, and much less if I was moving the camera. The missing bodies and exploded shit you see in SOME of my pictures is actually what my game looks like 99% of the time, it's just that I'm very good at changing the camera angle until everything finally stops exploding. And this is, by the way, with almost everything at "low" or "off". (I think maybe texture detail was at medium, but apart from that!)
In my new game, I can set everything to the highest setting INCLUDING SMOOTH EDGES, and my game runs as fluidly and as smoothly as an actual 3D animation, not like a GAME being CONTROLLED by my choices. It is like, omg. Is this how the sims is supposed to be???
This is how the local park in my
pixel_trade hood looked in the very first Spritas update (note: in-game pic):

This is it now (screenshot):

Here's a picture of Eirik, from my most recent Antikvas update:

Annnnnd here's Hilde in my new one!

I think you get the idea ;) My graphics are good now, amazingly!
The laptop wasn't too expensive either, around $1120 :D
