The Coopers 2.1

Welcome back! It’s that time again: time for another instalment of the Coopers!

Last time: Stacey Cooper made some friends, which she needs if she’s ever gonna be a ~Friend of the World~. She got engaged to, and then married to, her beau Melvin Krause. She got pregnant, their house doubled in size, and we met some generation 2 babiezz!!!

In case you forgot: Stacey and Melvin had twins! They’re named Claire and Christina, after the characters in House of Cards.

Melvin had his “pre-parental freakout” a little bit late.

Broderick and Amira don’t seem to have a great amount of consideration for how much new parents are not thinking about entertaining houseguests.

Stacey is (autonomously, even) a pretty great mum.

Cute coupley stuff.

Liberty Lee visits and is actually somewhat helpful.

I thought she deserved some fresh air after that whole “giving birth to twins” malarkey.

And in absolutely no time at all, it’s the twins’ birthday! (Even though a notification only popped up for Claire…)

She’s not really keen on looking at the camera, but this is Christina. Her childhood aspiration is Whiz Kid and the trait she got is Genius.

Claire, too, seems less than thrilled to reach childhood. Her aspiration is the Rambunctious Scamp one, and the trait she got is Cheerful.

The girls chat and their mum ignores them to play with her toy robot. A+

The girls are really, really obsessed with taking selfies on their smartphones. I’m not even sure why they have smartphones when they were just babies two hours ago.

Christina likes reading.

And Claire likes scowling.

Melvin: I sure don’t remember these kids being this big BEFORE I went to work, but they’re kinda fun to hang out with now!

Christina: I hope one day I’m earning fat stacks of cash like you, daddy!
Melvin: That’s my girl :')

The girls also really really love reading.

Father-daughter hugs! ♥

Sounds like a pretty great book tbh.

As well as reading, Christina looooooves to play Sims Forever With Mods.

The girls woke up in the middle of the night due to “monsters under the bed” fml

Christina thought she’d seek some comfort from Claire…

Unfortunately Claire took this as an opportunity to tell Christina off for being a wimpy little crybaby.

Apparently that monster isn’t going anywhere fast.

So I sent Melvin up there to sort it out.

Christina: PLEEEEEEEASE DADDY FIX IIIIIIT
Claire: I don’t need Daddy to fix anything! For I am supah tough~

Christina apparently didn’t think that Melvin was being helpful enough because she RAN downstairs to wake up Stacey too.

The next morning…

Melvin: Willow Creek’s Dad of the Year? Yup, I think that’ll be me, tyvm

Claire doesn’t think much of Stacey’s robot toy.

It’s so bloody hard to get a good idea of what the girls look like in Live Mode that I went into CAS and took these!

Clearly, Christina takes more after their dad (eyes, hair colour, skin colour) while Claire takes more after their mum (in the same features). They also have different noses, although I’m not sure which is from which parent.

Stacey needs YET MORE FRIENDS to achieve level 3 of her Friend of the World aspiration, so she goes to the park. This time, having learnt my lesson, I spammed the fuck out of all the available options and she did indeed make friends with everyone before it was time to go home.

We did see this truant kid, though. What the fuck man, why aren’t you in school?

Every time Stacey does an impression, she does this one. Look Stace, it’s time to mix up your material, methinks.

Looks like the girls had a great day at school.

I like how doing homework can be a social thing in this game, though. In fact, all the multitasking in general is pretty awesome. At time of writing I've been playing TS4 one and a half weeks, but I'm not sure I'd want to return to TS2-style doing everything one thing at a time.

Melvin: Remember last night, when you knuckleheads wouldn’t sleep because you thought there was a monster hiding under your beds? lol

Apparently the girls’ response to that didn’t meet Melvin’s sky-high standards for conversational partners.

Both the ladies Stacey befriended at the park today? NOW PREGNANT. Suspicious.

Christina thought she’d skip school and play computer games instead. I set her straight.

Looks like their next school day was just as awesome as the first day.

Claire autonomously decided to “Make Fun of Adults”… and Melvin ACTUALLY TOOK OFFENCE.

When her Happy moodlets expired that meant she was EMBARRASSED!! By her own dad not knowing how to take a joke!

Yayayay! I was briefly worried about her shift time (if she starts at 2 and the girls come home at 3, no one will be there to supervise until 5 when Melvin gets home!) but it turns out that in TS4 children can be left entirely unattended, so that’s cool.

This is Claire giving herself a pep talk to try to recover from Melvin’s hit to her self-esteem.

Guess what! These two are trying for another baby!

It’s 2:20am! Go back to bed, Liberty!

Yay!

She immediately tells Melvin the good news. He looks unconvinced but I’m pretty sure he was happy.

Another sweet family breakfast. Yes, Stacey is working in the back there, preparing a comedy routine.

Probably just accumulating future blackmail material.

Melvin tried to autonomously cancel his “Go To Work” interaction and park himself in front of the TV for some romantic comedy. I sent him to work.

Wow! Go Tabitha!

FU, Melvin’s boss. At least he did not actually have to do any overtime.

The girls are much happier on their return from school today: they’re now B students!

And because they’re both little nerds, they rolled whims to do extra credit crap after they’d finished their homework. NERDS!

Yay! Only, uh…

…he came home wearing this. WHAT THE FUCK, Melvin.

I was tempted, seeing as I’ve never sent my Sims to a birthday party before. Unfortunately, it is a school night, and Melvin had already collapsed into bed from exhaustion. So we declined. This is what getting old is all about, huh?

Guess what?!

THE MOTHERFLIPPIN’ MONSTER IS BACK!

Claire tried to talk to it but it didn’t want to talk back, or maybe it just didn’t understand Simlish. Christina (not pictured) took a bubble bath to help herself relax.

Stacey: at least this will provide great material for my next show

Resignedly Stacey sprays the bed…

…and while Claire was initially very suspicious…

…she ultimately agreed that Stacey had solved the problem and hugged her in gratitude.

Stacey: I don’t know why Melvin was so up himself the other day – clearly I’m the great parent around here!

Why does she only roll this whim AFTER she’s already tried it and failed miserably?
